BREAKING DOWN THE 2024 ENCAMPMENT MOVEMENTS FOR PALESTINE

In this episode of The Dugout, we offer a grounded report-back and movement analysis of the 2024 pro-Palestine encampments that erupted on college campuses across the U.S. What started as student-led actions demanding divestment and solidarity with Gaza quickly became a national uprising met with surveillance, repression, and militarized policing.

Drawing from our own organizing and support roles—from jail support and media coordination to direct action strategy—we reflect on the power and limits of these encampments. We unpack their tactics, mutual aid formations, abolitionist roots, and what they reveal about shifting political consciousness in a time of genocide and settler violence.

This episode is both memory and call-to-action. We honor the courage of students and workers who held the line—and we look at how these sparks can fuel long-term resistance rooted in Black, Palestinian, and anti-colonial struggle.

an interview with anarchist media-maker, lucretia mcevil

We teamed up with the brilliant Lucretia McEvil—raised in the anti-racist skinhead scene and now an anarchist media maker—to dive deep into Black anarchist history, radical media, and the movements shaping our world today. From punk roots to frontline storytelling, this is a conversation about identity, resistance, and building power through art.

why the usa is fascist: a breakdown of state violence and anti-blackness

Drawing from years of on-the-ground organizing and political analysis, we break down why the U.S. state—regardless of who’s in power—operates through fascist logic. This is one of our favorite episodes for how clearly it connects anti-Blackness, Afro-pessimism, and U.S. imperialism.

From Kamala Harris’s pro-military rhetoric to the violent development of Cop City in Atlanta, we explore how the state systematically targets Black communities, represses resistance, and controls narratives through propaganda. We also dig into necropolitics and COINTELPRO to show how this violence is not new—it’s just evolving. Tune in for a grounded, radical lens on the political moment we’re living through.

Inside anarchism in Sudan

The Dugout, with real time translation spoke with Fawaz, a Sudanese anarchist organizer, about building resistance in the face of dictatorship, war, and repression. From organizing underground student circles after the 2018–2019 uprising to going public as anarchists in 2020, Fawaz shares how youth movements in Sudan are rejecting military, religious, and tribal authoritarianism—and planting the seeds of mutual aid and collective care. We discuss the legacy of colonialism, the dangers of organizing under surveillance, and the everyday realities of fighting for freedom.

What does it mean to organize without hierarchy while under siege? How do revolutionary ideas take root when everything around you is collapsing?

We have an English only version and a full version with Arabic from Fawaz and Abdou

Interview With Nia Òla

In Part 1/2 we spoke with writer, critic, and cultural theorist Nia Òla for a conversation that cuts through the noise of online discourse and dives deep into the heart of radical education, identity, and political awakening. From growing up in the Bronx to becoming a powerful voice on platforms like TikTok and Substack, Nia shares how curiosity shaped their worldview—and why it remains a revolutionary force.

We explore the complexities and realities of sex work, the emotional labor of politics online, the limits of freedom, and why “going outside and touching grass” is more than just a meme—it's a political call to action. With humor, vulnerability, and brilliant clarity, Nia helps us reimagine what it means to engage, educate, and resist in today’s cultural moment.

In Part 2/2 Nia guides listeners through the legal, historical, and emotional terrain of erotic labor — from the criminalization of sex work to the cultural obsession with controlling bodies. Together, we interrogate how consent, autonomy, and state violence intersect, and why collective liberation demands we center those pushed to society’s margins. Raw, reflective, and rich in political clarity, this episode is an urgent listen for anyone invested in abolitionist struggle and freedom dreams.
